Copy Your Clothes: A Patternmaking Workshop

Do you have a favorite garment that you wish you could recreate? In our Copy Your Clothes workshop, you’ll learn how to make a sewing pattern from an existing piece of clothing—without taking it apart! This hands-on class is perfect for anyone who loves their wardrobe staples and wants to understand how garments are constructed.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to trace and draft patterns from your own clothes without seam ripping.

  • How to use a french curve, hip curve, vary form curve and grid rulers.

  • Techniques for marking darts, pleats, and other garment details.

  • Understanding ease, grainlines, and pattern adjustments for a perfect fit.

  • How to label and store your patterns for future sewing projects.

What to Bring:

  • A couple of garments you love and want to replicate (simple shapes are best for beginners i.e. no pleats, gathers, darts).

  • A notebook and pen for taking notes.

  • All other materials will be provided!
